Brand Settings
Brand Settings configure how GrowthFactor analyzes sites for your organization—defining your competitors, complements, and the parameters that power your sales projections.
Accessing Brand Settings
Navigate to Brand Settings in the left sidebar under Settings. Only administrators can modify these settings.
Model Configuration
Your sales projection model is calibrated to your brand's performance. Model settings determine:
Which demographic variables are weighted in analog matching
How similarity scores are calculated
Which stores are included in the comparison set
Viewing Current Variables
To view your current model configuration:
Go to Brand Settings in the left sidebar under Settings
Select the Demographic Variables tab
You'll see a table of all configured variables, including the variable code, metric type, and any base variables they're calculated from.
Use the ESRI Data Browser to find variable codes. Enter the full code including collection ID (e.g., KeyUSFacts.TOTPOP_CY).
Requesting Variable Changes
To request changes to your model's demographic variables:
Go to Brand Settings
Select the Demographic Variables tab
Click + Change Variables in the top right
In the Request Variable Changes form, select your request type:
Add new variables — Include additional demographic factors in your model
Change existing variables — Modify how current variables are configured
Remove variables — Remove variables no longer relevant to your analysis
Describe the changes you need in the text field, then click Submit Request. Your GrowthFactor team will review and implement the changes.
Multiple Models
Some organizations have multiple models for different store formats, regions, or concepts. When searching a site, the results panel indicates which model is active (e.g., "GrowthFactor Model: Non-Texas Stores").
Work with your GrowthFactor team to set up additional models if your portfolio requires segmented analysis.
Trade Zones
Trade zones define the geographic areas used to calculate demographics and analyze site potential. To configure trade zones:
Go to Brand Settings
Select the Trade Zones tab
Click + Add Trade Zone to create a new zone
For each trade zone, configure:
Type — Choose from Ring Buffer (radius-based), Network Service Area (drive time), or Foot Traffic
Value — The numeric size of the zone
Unit — Miles, Kilometers, Minutes, or Percent depending on zone type
You can configure multiple trade zones to analyze different catchment areas. Click the trash icon to remove a trade zone.
Competitors
Define which businesses are direct competitors for your concept. These can be set during onboarding and on the platform.
How they're used:
Displayed in the Competitors section when you search a site
Shown on the map when the Competitors layer is enabled
Factored into competitive density analysis and GrowthFactor Score
Complements
Define which businesses indicate good co-tenancy for your concept.
How they're used:
Displayed in the Complements section when you search a site
Shown on the map when the Complements layer is enabled
Help assess co-tenancy opportunities and traffic drivers
To configure:
Go to "Brand Settings"
Select "Brand Behaviors"
From here, you can change:
Brand Name, referring to the "slug" for a given business. A "slug" is a standardized writing format version of a Brand Name. For example, the restaurant chain "123 Restaurants Boston" may have slug "123-restaurants-boston". A full list of Brand Names and associated slugs can be found at https://docs.radar.com/places/chains.
